Tampa Cremation and Funeral Costs: Read the Full Price

Source check: 2026-09-13 · 4 min read

When comparing cremation costs in Tampa, check the date, the exact package, and whether the provider’s documents agree. Three public provider examples below show why a low advertised amount or a long price list is not enough to establish your family’s final bill.

How much is direct cremation in Tampa? Our September 13, 2026 review found a $975 published package, a $3,290 alternative-container option, and one provider showing $740 in a dated GPL but $795 on its website. These examples include different services and conditions. The conflicting price needs confirmation; none establishes a Tampa average or a current lowest price.

Three Tampa price sources to compare carefully

We selected accessible public pages or General Price Lists (GPLs) from three providers listing Tampa addresses. This is a small convenience sample, not a representative survey. We did not call, request personalized quotes, or verify the complete payable amount for a particular family. All figures below are U.S. dollars.

Provider and sourcePublished exampleDate and material limitation
Cremations of Greater Tampa Bay, 110 N Macdill AvenueDirect cremation $975; package includes an alternative container and specified permits and fees.Page effective date not stated. Confirm collection circumstances, care limits, and any extras.
Loyless Funeral Home Arrangement Center, 19651 Bruce B. Downs BoulevardDirect cremation $3,290 with alternative container; $3,185 with purchaser-provided container.GPL effective May 7, 2026. Published package includes transfer within 35 miles and refrigeration.
Affordable Cremations of Central Florida, 326 S Falkenburg RoadGPL lists simple cremation $740, including alternative container. A separate provider webpage advertises $795.GPL effective February 25, 2026. Conflicting published amounts: current applicable price is UNCONFIRMED.

These offers have not been normalized for all collection locations, service choices, and additional charges. Read each source and obtain a current written total before making a decision. The table does not rank providers by quality or final cost.

What should you do when two prices disagree?

Save both links and ask the provider which price applies to the arrangement you want. Request the current GPL and an itemized estimate with an effective date. Ask whether the difference reflects an updated price, a different package, or some other condition. We have not established the reason for the $740/$795 difference above.

Do not average the two amounts, quietly select the lower one, or assume the higher one includes everything. If you are planning for later, note when the provider last confirmed the figure and whether any contract actually guarantees it.

Check the package before adding separate fees

The Loyless GPL separately lists a $3,450 basic-services fee but states that it is already included in direct-cremation charges. Adding it to the $3,290 option would count the same service twice. The direct-cremation description also includes crematory transport, authorizations, and the cremation fee.

Start with one package, identify its inclusions, and then add only applicable extras. Ask the provider to reconcile your estimate with its GPL if you cannot tell which items overlap. A longer list of charges should not automatically become a larger total.

Questions that make Tampa estimates comparable

  • Does the transfer allowance cover the actual address, and does the collection setting affect the price?
  • How much refrigeration is included, and what happens if arrangements take longer?
  • Which container and return-of-remains option are included?
  • Are certificates, permits, and third-party charges included or separate?
  • Do weight, additional care, or selected services change the amount?
  • What payment methods are accepted, and do any create additional charges?

Use the same answers when approaching each provider. Tampa city, the wider Tampa Bay area, and another Florida community are not interchangeable for transport allowances. A nearby provider’s address alone does not establish what it charges for your location.

What else belongs in a funeral budget?

If you want a viewing, ceremony, burial, or cemetery placement, ask for those arrangements specifically. Direct cremation alone does not describe the complete plan.

Cremations of Greater Tampa Bay separately lists a viewing-and-burial service at $3,975, excluding the casket and cemetery expenses. Treat that as a differently scoped offer. It cannot be compared with direct cremation as though both included the same service.

Keep funeral-provider charges, final-placement charges, and optional family expenses in separate sections. Mark anything unpriced as “to confirm.” The budget worksheet helps record those distinctions.

Plan for payment timing as well as the amount

If a death has occurred, ask the provider when payment is required and check existing insurance and prepaid documents. Ask whether the provider accepts an insurance assignment and whether there are conditions or fees. Do not assume an expected benefit is immediately available to pay a bill.

For advance planning, use your actual unpaid estimate in the coverage-gap calculator. Read the Florida planning guide for insurance verification and family administration questions. If relatives live in different states, record the intended arrangement location and the person keeping the documents.

Recheck the plan after a price change, a move, or a change in service preferences. A useful plan keeps track of what remains unknown as carefully as what has already been quoted.
