Compare Final Expense Quotes: Payments and Benefits

Source check: 2026-09-14 · 3 min read

Use this tool to compare the payment schedules and benefit amounts in two written final-expense offers. It does not obtain quotes or choose a policy. Enter your own figures; no name, phone number, diagnosis or policy number is needed.

Compare the same applicant and coverage goal. Monthly and annual premiums can be converted into comparable totals, but matching payment totals does not establish matching coverage. The early natural-death benefit and the policy’s conditions still matter.

Compare two written offers

Enter each premium, how often it is paid, the stated coverage amount, and the number of years you want to compare. Early natural-death benefits are optional: leave them blank if the quote does not supply a confirmed amount. Blank means unknown, not zero. If the benefit is a formula rather than a fixed figure, leave the field blank and review the formula separately.

How the calculation works

For a monthly quote, the annual payment total is the premium multiplied by 12. For an annual quote, it is the premium as entered. The selected-year total multiplies that annual amount by the number of years. All amounts are U.S. dollars.

For example, hypothetical payments of $48 a month and $550 a year produce annual totals of $576 and $550. Over ten years, the totals are $5,760 and $5,500, a $260 difference. These are invented figures, not available prices.

The calculation assumes payments remain unchanged and continue for the entire period. If a policy is paid up sooner, ends sooner, or uses a changing schedule, this calculation is not a complete comparison. It excludes interest, inflation, fees, policy loans, cash values and actual claim outcomes.

Use the same early-death scenario

If you enter an early benefit, use the same point in time and covered cause of death for both offers. A benefit in month six and a benefit in year three are not comparable. A natural-death amount and an accident-only amount should not be entered as equivalent.

Read the benefit-timing guide if either offer has a graded benefit. This tool does not evaluate whether a benefit formula has been calculated correctly or whether an exclusion would apply.

What a difference means

If face amounts differ, the tool flags that the offers have different headline benefits. If either early benefit is unknown, it says so. Even when all entered figures match, the policies can differ in eligibility, guarantees, exclusions and administration.

The tool deliberately provides no “winner.” Use the result to identify questions, then compare the written policies with a qualified professional. The company guide helps you verify the issuing insurer and evidence behind a recommendation.

Keep the comparison privately

The calculation runs in this page. It does not submit your figures, create an insurance application or save them to a customer database. Use the printable comparison sheet for product names and outstanding questions. Browser or print settings may retain local copies, so handle your own documents accordingly.

Before considering a larger benefit, check your actual funding gap with the coverage calculator. For the wider payment decision, return to the burial-insurance cost guide.
